100Brokers Members voted and we are very pleased to announce that we will be sending a cheque in the amount of $2,500 to Julia Dawson & Family, Recipient of the 2nd Quarter vote of 2020.

Julia Dawson was an active 7 year old until she was diagnosed with Leukemia, a cancer of the blood, in 2015, just after her 8th birthday.  When Julia was finally finished treatment in 2017, the Dawson family thought their cancer journey was behind them.

Sadly, Julia relapsed in November of 2019. While most girls her age were celebrating their 13th birthdays, exploring makeup and flirting with boys, Julia was having surgeries, non stop chemotherapy and blood transfusions. This time, the family’s financial need is greater than ever.

Julia is an amazingly supportive 13 year old young lady to her fellow cancer patient friends and nurses at Children’s Hospital. This is her second bought with this nasty disease. Let’s help to contribute and show the Dawson family what support from 100 Brokers Who Care is all about!

Thank you to Lana Russell for bringing this Cause to our attention.

Nomination Story:
Julia Dawson was an active 7 year old, loving soccer, camping trips and always climbing trees with her friends until she was diagnosed with Leukemia, a cancer of the blood, in 2015, just after her 8th birthday. The Dawson family was supported by fundraisers, family and friends through the rough first 8 months of treatment with mother, Rachel, taking a leave from work to be with and support Julia. When Julia was finally finished treatment in 2017, the Dawson family thought their cancer journey was behind them and settled into their ‘new normal’, thinking and praying that there was nothing but good health and time ahead of them.

Sadly, Julia relapsed in November of 2019. While most girls her age were celebrating their 13th birthdays, exploring makeup and flirting with boys, Julia was having surgeries, non stop chemotherapy and blood transfusions. This time, the family’s financial need is greater than ever. Having leaned on family and friends during the first diagnosis, they don’t want to ask too much of them the second time around. Mother, Rachel, has taken another leave from her work as an Associate Director at Simon Fraser University, without any certainty of the impact this will have on her career or possibilities of returning to the same position when Julia’s treatment is complete. This pandemic, which is another “C” word that I don’t want to name, has thrown another wrench into the family’s financial well being and stress as Julia’s father, Andrew, receives primarily a commission based income with a small aerial survey mapping company and has had a significant decrease in income.

What they do know is that, at this time, they need to be there for Julia and their family. The Dawson family is thankful for any support that can keep them going and keep their two daughters happy and positive during this very difficult and trying time. Let’s help to contribute and show the Dawson family what support from 100 Brokers Who Care is all about!
